The Idea

Cemaphoro is a pioneering carfunding platform that enables individuals to raise funds to purchase electric vehicles. Users can upload their chosen car model, set a funding target, and share their campaign with friends, family, and supporters. The goal is to make electric vehicles more accessible. This is particularly beneficial for those who qualify for conventional car loans but face challenges securing EV finance. By blending crowdfunding and traditional loans, Cemaphoro promotes greener transport for individuals and the planet.

The idea for Cemaphoro was inspired by Oscar's time working at Tesla, where he noticed a gap in financing options for electric vehicles. Many people who would qualify for loans on combustion engine vehicles were being declined when applying for EV loans. Cemaphoro helps bridge this gap by allowing users to crowdfund the initial down payment, reducing the overall cost of ownership while promoting sustainable transport.

We wanted to create a platform where anyone passionate about sustainable transport could get the community support, they need to make the switch to electric. Cemaphoro blends crowdfunding with traditional financing to innovate the way people can acquire an EV and make ownership a reality for more people.

The Project

With a clear vision for the platform, Cemaphoro approached WLCF to help bring it to life. The site was developed using custom templates and designed to be simple and intuitive. As a donation-based platform, Cemaphoro did not require complex investment functionality, keeping the user experience streamlined.

Key members of the WLCF team, including Dan, Evelyn, and Onasis, were instrumental in guiding the project through to completion. Oscar described the build process as smooth and efficient, with no major issues encountered.

Integrations included:

Payment Processing Integration: Integration with Stripe to allow for quick, secure payments.

User-Friendly Campaign Setup: A simple interface allowing users to set up campaigns without requiring donors to create accounts.

Sharing Features: Easy sharing tools so users can promote their campaigns within their personal networks.

The Launch

Cemaphoro officially launched in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Despite the challenging global context, the launch itself went smoothly. Oscar noted that the platform was technologically flawless from day one, with the only real hurdle being the initial client acquisition as a result of the pandemic.

Since its launch, Cemaphoro has gained traction. The team is now looking to expand the concept into Mexico and potentially other markets, supporting the vision of making electric vehicles more accessible on a global scale.

Working with the WLCF team has been a great experience. They truly understood our vision and delivered a platform that is both functional and user-friendly. The process was smooth from start to finish, and the end result exceeded our expectations.
